Program Manager Sustainability in area development

As Program Manager Sustainability at area developer AM, Malika is dedicated to shaping future-proof living environments with lasting positive impacts on people, nature, and society. She encourages AM’s drive to be climate positive by 2035, guiding the transition toward a sustainable construction economy. In projects like the innovative WärtZ quarter in Zwolle, Malika coordinates sustainability efforts in large-scale area developments. Besides, as project manager ‘biobased (ver)bouwen’, she activates chain collaboration from farmers to contractors through the cultivation of local fiber crops that can be used as construction materials. Malika likes to engage public and private partners through workshops, discussions and through speaking at public events. Malika enjoys sharing her view on sustainability transitions and social tipping points. In 2022, she won the Aedes Thesis Prize for her research on the challenges and opportunities in the shift toward circular and conceptual housing. Since then, Malika has championed the importance of effective chain collaboration, applying this vision in her daily work.
